September 11, 2001 is a day that changed America forever.  People of my generation and older know what happened on that horrific day, it was the “President Kennedy has been shot” moment of our lifetime.

Recently, a student came in and was being interviewed.  The question of our website facts came up.  The candidate was asked if they knew what happened on September 11, 2001.  They said they thought maybe a plane had crashed.  That was an unsettling moment for all of us.

The candidate was 5 years old when our country was attacked.  During the next 13 years of their life, who taught them what happened?  Who told them how things used to be?  It is important  to teach the events of what happened on September 11, 2001. So many brave people died on that day trying to protect our government.  Their courage and valor should not be pushed aside like old newspapers.

The HALO Foundation offers community talks about the events of that day, and the courage shown from the 40 Heroes of United Airlines Flight 93 who willingly gave their lives in the hopes of protecting others. Sharon Deitrick, Founder of the HALO Foundation and 93 cents for Flight 93, would be honored to present the facts to your group.  Sharon was on the National Steering Committee to design/ erect the memorial in Shanksville, PA. She involved school children raising 93 cents at a time and continues to focus on involving today’s youth in the community.
