When a family is in need, and people go out of their way to help, amazing things happen!

Joey Berger, one of the student leaders for the HALO Foundation and 93 cents for Flight 93, was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. As most know, cancer often puts a huge emotional, physical, and financial damper on both the individual and their family.  Because of this knowledge, the HALO Foundation wanted to do something to help out Joey and his family.

On Saturday, December 5, a chili cookoff fundraiser was held at St. Sebastians Zwisler Hall in Akron. Over 300 people attended the event, where they were able to vote for their favorite chili, bid on raffle baskets, play carnival games, and get the chance to win a smart TV! All of the funds raised at the event will go towards Joey’s medical funds.

The HALO Foundation and the Berger family are so overwhelmed by the love and support that has been shown to Joey during this trying time. We are so thankful to everyone who helped out at the event, donated, and kept the Bergers in their prayers!
